Invisalign is the brainchild of Dr Zia Chashti, a\n1997 Stanford University graduate who had the innovative idea of replacing\nconventional fused \u2018train-track\u2019 braces with a removable retainer which would\ngradually align a patient’s teeth over the course of treatment. The process of\ninstalling an Invisalign mouthguard consists initially of a mould of a\npatient’s mouth being created using a patented \u2018SmartTrack\u2019 plastic – which is\nutilised due to its durable yet malleable nature. After a mould has been\ncreated of the patient’s teeth, they are then able to take it home with them,\nand wear it at a time that is suitable for them. When worn, the retainer\ngradually aligns the patient\u2019s teeth to the specifications that were established\nwith the practitioner of their choosing before treatment began. Invisalign\ntreatment has proven to be far more popular than conventional orthodontic\ntreatment as the brace – unlike conventional \u2018fused braces\u2019-  is removable, and as such can be worn at a\npatient\u2019s leisure. Another reason for the popularity of Invisalign over\nconventional orthodontics is that, when worn, the retainer is practically\ninvisible – which allows users to undergo essential dental alignment, without\nattracting any unwanted attention from peers or colleagues.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
